EDF Trading acquires Midwest C&I gas portfolio from ConocoPhillips

EDF Trading today announced that it has acquired the Midwest commercial and industrial natural gas portfolio from ConocoPhillips.

The business currently sells nearly 50 BCF of gas per year to 200 commercial and industrial customers in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio and Kentucky, including many recognized industrial, commercial, healthcare, governmental and educational institutions.

“This is an important acquisition for us,” said John Rittenhouse, Chief Executive of EDF Trading. “It will expand our commercial and industrial business in the Midwest market and will allow us to offer power as well as gas to this strategically important customer base.”

The business has nine employees based out of Merrillville, Indiana who will be joining EDF Trading’s Commercial and Industrial supply team. EDF Trading currently provides retail electricity supply to large commercial and industrial clients in four states (Texas, California, New York, and Illinois), serving five major ISOs.

“The acquisition will increase the geographical footprint of our retail business and provide added value and convenience to current and future C&I customers in North America”, said Mary Anne Brelinsky, head of North American Retail at EDF Trading.

Financial details of the transaction are not being disclosed.

EDF Trading is the fifth largest marketer of Gas and the fifteenth largest retail supplier of non-residential power in North America.
