How does North American power differ from European?
Many regions in North America are nodal creating a greater number of geographically granular trading locations. Congestion is a very important aspect of price formation in North American power. On the other hand, the spot market in Europe is much more liquid and actively traded than in the U.S.
What do you find the most interesting aspect of power trading?
Due to the limitations on storage, the power market has to eventually settle at its fundamental fair value. Unlike some other commodities, power markets cannot remain dislocated indefinitely, which demands a much more analytical approach.
