Maria Karyda
Commercial Graduate (London)
Have you received adequate training? How has your development been supported?
I was able to take responsibility for different projects from the very beginning, which has given me great exposure to a wide range of processes and systems within the organisation. At the same time, I have had great support from my team, and my line manager. They have always made time to answer questions and to guide me in the right direction. I really enjoy being given the opportunity to propose my ideas and receiving constructive feedback. It helps me improve my skills, my self-confidence and my market understanding. There is a steep learning curve with many new things to understand and digest. At the same time, it is a rewarding environment as it allows me to grow fast and widen my horizons within a very short period of time. Option pricing has been one of my most exciting lessons. It's intense but I really enjoyed it.

What advice would you give someone thinking about applying for an internship at EDF trading?
EDF Trading offers a great corporate culture that promotes collaboration, innovation and initiative. The energy sector is at an inflection point, with EDF Trading being one of the leaders that can support this change. It offers a fast-paced working environment and creates opportunities for its employees to grow, develop and build a career. The culture is clearly people-centric. New joiners are encouraged to take responsibility for their work and share their ideas. I have been provided with a supportive network to further enhance my technical and interpersonal skills. Not many companies can match this.
