Mitesh Deddekunta
Commercial Graduate (London)

Have you received adequate training? How has your development been supported?
Across all the rotations on the graduate scheme, I have had great support from the team and my line manager. Everyone has taken the time to answer questions and explain complex concepts in detail. I have also been encouraged to attend both internal and external learning sessions to help my personal development. One unique aspect of the graduate scheme at EDF Trading is that you are given a lot of responsibility from day one. While this can result in a steep learning curve, it also provides the best opportunity to learn and grow quickly. Everyone at EDFT is open to hearing new ideas and approaches which has allowed me to have an immediate impact on the business; any criticism is always constructive, helping me improve my skills and market understanding. I've also been given a lot of flexibility, which has allowed me to take on the projects and tasks that suit me best and help me develop specific skills that I have identified I want to improve. The graduate role has provided me with a good balance of team work and independent work, and I have developed my own ideas as well as collaborated with others.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking about applying for an internship at EDFT?
EDF Trading is a very people-centric business that values collaboration, innovation and initiative. New joiners are encouraged to take responsibility for their work and share their ideas from the start. Since we work in such a dynamic sector, there is always a fast-paced working environment that benefits from strong quantitative and qualitative skills. I would also recommend anyone interested in joining EDF Trading to start getting familiar with recent market trends, especially in European energy markets and wider global macroeconomics.
