How did you prepare yourself for the interview at EDFT?
Eager to interview with EDFT, I prepared by learning as much as I could about the Rotational Analyst Programme and the company, as well as the culture and core values. I then reflected on how those values aligned with my own. I came prepared with thoughtful questions to help determine whether the programme at EDFT would be a good fit for me. My goal was to feel confident that this was a place where I could grow professionally, have a meaningful impact and build a long-term career. I wanted to clearly communicate what I could bring to the table, based on my academic experience and the personal drive that motivates me to succeed.
The opportunities and potential career paths within EDFT are limitless.
What has surprised you most during your time at EDF Trading?
The opportunities and potential career paths within EDFT are limitless. The rotational programme has allowed me to work with teams across the back, middle and front offices. In just 14 months, I’ve had the chance to sit with, and contribute to, more teams than many people experience in several years. These rotations have helped me build a large network and develop a better understanding of how different areas of the business operate. It has been beneficial for me to see how the departments support each other and work together.
Another pleasant surprise has been how committed people are to helping you grow, regardless of their level or title. I’ve had many whiteboard sessions with colleagues on both foundational and complex concepts, demonstrating not just their expertise, but showing a genuine interest in helping early career employees succeed.
What skills are you most proud to have developed during your 14 months in the programme?
Adaptability
Rotating across teams every few months has required me to quickly adjust to new projects, workflows and leadership styles. Just as I began to feel settled in one role, I transition to the next—each arrived with its own fresh set of challenges. This has helped me become more adaptable, resourceful and confident in navigating unfamiliar situations.
Collaboration
Each rotation has reinforced the importance of teamwork. I’ve had the opportunity to work cross-functionally and learn from colleagues with diverse expertise and working styles. I’ve learned how to quickly build strong working relationships, ask questions and contribute to the team, even while still in the training phase of a new role.
Analytical & technical skills
The types of projects I’ve worked on have varied greatly across rotations, which has helped me build a well-rounded analytical toolkit. In my most recent rotation, I have started learning SQL, creating Power BI dashboards and advancing my skills in Excel. These tools have enhanced my ability to analyse and present data; skills I know will serve me well in many different roles.
